Artist Statement
Focusing on mixed-media oils, my paintings are full of splatters, spray paint and rich vibrant color.  I call my style "Realistic Imagination" and I am inspired by the quiet magic I see in nature.  I create animals surrounded by luminous botanicals in green landscapes where creatures coexist peacefully.  Hopefully my paintings create a feeling of warmth, happiness and wonder in your home—like stepping into a dream.  I am excited about making new friends and collectors in the Kansas City, Missouri area and all over the world.
My signature on my art is LynellWB and I do business as Sister Mouse.
ARTIST BIO
After a long career as a commercial artist doing t-shirt designs, graphic & surface design, marketing collateral and catalogs for many apparel companies I decided to go "All In" on being a fine artist.

I am a Kansas born, Missouri grown, Commercial Artist.  I am a proud momma of my son Rigby who is attending college in Colorado. After college, I traveled with my now ex-husband who was in the Navy while working as a graphic designer.  I lived & worked in the metro Denver, Colorado area from 1999 to 2022.  I was doing freelance art and dog portraits in 2020.  I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UCM located in Warrensburg, Missouri.  I am currently taking the Mastery Program from the Milan Art Institute in Sarasota, Florida to fine tune my painting skills. I am fortunate to have very loving parents and siblings south of Kansas City, Missouri and live in Harrisonville which is my current hometown.
I have started posting and putting my paintings out in the universe.  Please let me know what you think of my new style currently updated under the Sister Mouse Studio page on this website. I am looking forward to making great art and having new friends that are collectors & fans.

ART JOURNEY
When I was a little girl my nickname for my room was the tornado.  There were papers thrown everywhere and so many drawings that you could not find the bed.  The first art class I remember was in 4th grade and I drew a green plant that I Iiked very much.  The art teacher said "Don't you see all that color!" and proceeded to add yellow, orange & red.  I thought he was crazy.  It was green.  Later in high school I continued to take art classes and when I graduated my mother asked where all the art was from my classes?  I told her my teacher had entered it in every art show he could find so I didn't have any left.  I wanted to go to CMSU (UCM) because the art program was good and then I could decide if I was going into science or art.  Math is not my best subject so this sent me down the art path.  I received a BFA in Commercial Art and started my art career.  I had a great career working for many apparel companies that provided a good living for me.  I am organized and can schedule a photoshoot so this helped when I designed catalogs.  After 2018 the art programs I used changed by leaps and bounds and the switch from printed to online catalogs changed everything.  Many print companies were bought & sold and reformed into new combined entities. This led to me being let go just before 2020 and the pandemic.  All of our lives have now changed.  I made pet portraits, did freelance for many companies and tried to make a living from the Wilgers mountain homestead in Colorado.  Altitude changed my trajectory because it was too high for mom to breathe well in Westcreek.  We found a home close to family in Missouri.  I joined Milan Art Institute's Mastery Program when we moved to Harrisonville. I luckily found a remote job at my first job out of college at Gear for Sports but the company was bought and I was let go on a Thursday.  I found a part time job housekeeping and have been working to be a professional artist full time.  I am close to finishing my certificate from the Mastery Program and developing my personal style.  I entered the Unrivaled Art Show and received an honorable mention for my Giant Fox oil painting.  I sold prints at 2 vender shows and learned a lot displaying my art.  I exhibit my work through my local art group the Harrisonville Fine Art Association.  My art can be seen at the Harrisonville Community Center and local banks and businesses.  I am applying to be juried into the Lees Summit Art Group to be seen by our great art community around Kansas City.
